Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Truck Driver to operate heavy-capacity trucks and deliver steel products between locations, suppliers, and customers. You will perform inspections, secure cargo, and maintain accurate documentation to uphold safety and service standards.

You will follow a set delivery schedule, report defects, and ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSR rules while providing excellent customer service across multiple stops and routes.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL license with two years of driving experience; steel hauling preferred.
• Operate a clutch pedal and a tractor-trailer for up to 10 hours.
• Know and follow DOT/FMCSR requirements and state laws.
• Climb on/off the semi-trailer as needed.
• Lift up to 50 lb occasionally; 25 lb frequently; 10 lb regularly.

Responsibilities

• Operates a truck with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver steel products.
• Performs required daily vehicle inspections and monthly checklist to ensure equipment is in good working order.
• Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Maneuvers trucks into loading/unloading positions, following loading crew signals.
• Secures cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
• Inspects material placed on truck for defects before and after trips.
• Maintains inspection paperwork and documentation relating to accidents or material defects.
• Follows a pre-determined schedule of pickup and delivery.
