Job summary

The Alpena County Road Commission is seeking a full-time Class A CDL Truck Driver to join the Alpena, Michigan team. You will work outdoors with trucks and equipment, helping maintain roads and rights-of-way as part of a safety-first crew.

Starting pay is $25.23 per hour with raises at 6 months and 1 year, plus comprehensive benefits. This is a year-round, full-time position with varied seasonal hours.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of road construction/maintenance experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with air brake and manual transmission.
• Ability to operate trucks and powered equipment safely.
• Safety-first attitude and teamwork.
• Willingness to work outdoors in Michigan weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and equipment to haul, spread, blade, and place gravel, sand, stone, and other road materials.
• Plow snow and operate attachments such as wing plows, underbody scrapers, spreaders, brooms, and trailers.
• Patch blacktop, install or repair signs, guardrails, highway markers, and snow fencing, and assist with other road maintenance and construction projects.
• Cut brush and remove trees using chainsaws and other powered equipment.
• Perform routine equipment checks and preventive maintenance to keep trucks and equipment ready to work.
• Assist with traffic control, building and grounds maintenance, and other crew duties as needed.
• Work safely around active traffic and in changing road, weather, and seasonal conditions.
