Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Truck Driver to ensure on-time delivery of freight between distribution centers, stores, and vendors. You will haul and unload multi-stop freight to stores and return freight as needed, while safely operating the vehicle and handling interstate and intrastate deliveries.

The role requires overnight travel, adherence to DG policies and DOT regulations, and professional customer service at each stop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of tractor/trailer driving experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle rolltainers.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Transports store-delivery freight as well as returns and backhauls over-the-road in a safe, efficient, and timely manner adhering to all DG specific policies and state and federal regulations. (40%)
• Unloads and reloads freight and rolltainers at each delivery in a safe and efficient manner. This will include (30%):
• Rolling rolltainers off the trailer onto a lift gate and placing them into the backroom of the store.
• Unloading individual boxes loaded on top of the rolltainers (referred to as toppers) onto U-boats and placing them in the backroom of the store.
• Reloading return rolltainers (including cardboard, tote and empties) and product onto the trailer and returning these items to the Distribution Center or consolidation point.
• At consolidation points, the driver will be accountable for backing up to an available Dollar General trailer and transferring rolltainers from one trailer to another creating an empty to go to a vendor.
• Safely securing all freight and rolltainers at each stop before sealing the trailer.
• Provides professional customer service to all parties including store teams, backhaul vendors, and distribution employees. (10%)
• Completes all necessary paperwork and maintains records required under state and federal laws and regulations. (10%)
• Ensures operation of the vehicle is following all state and federal laws and regulations. (10%)
