Job summary

Meritus Texas is seeking a CDL A Truck Driver for a Houston, TX route with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. Route is local, home every night, with competitive pay and a strong benefits package.

Minimum 1 year driving experience, clean record, and ability to lift 100 lbs are required. Forklift operation and DOT compliance are essential; CDL must be valid.

Qualifications

• Hazmat and Tanker endorsements required.
• Clean driving record.
• Able to operate a forklift.
• Able to lift/move 100 lbs and meet DOT medical standards.
• Must pass DOT drug screen and be enrolled in random program.

Responsibilities

• Loads, secures, transports, delivers, and unloads products to destinations.
• Provide excellent customer service and answer inquiries on routes.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections per DOT and company checklist.
• Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Complete required training and maintain logs and records per regulations.
• Maintain truck cleanliness and perform basic equipment maintenance.
• Operate in all weather and adhere to client-demand schedules.

Minimum requirements:

• Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• At least 21 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year experience
• Clean driving record
• Must have Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Ability to lift, push or move product weighing 100lbs.
• Must meet the physical qualification requirement established for the USDOT
• Must pass DOT drug screen and be enrolled in a random drug screen program

Preferred qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of cryogenic pumps, tanks, transports, hydraulic equipment and diesel engines preferred, but not required
• Basic knowledge of industrial, medical and specialty gases preferred, but not required

Essential duties/responsibilities:

• Loads, secures, transports, delivers, and unloads product to and from specified destinations.
• Provides exceptional customer service by supplying service information and answering inquiries.
• Performs pre and post trip inspections on truck according to DOT and company maintenance checklist.
• Complies with all company policies, safety policies and procedures, and DOT and OSHA requirements.
• Completes all company, state and federal required training.
• Maintains truck cleanliness and performs general maintenance on equipment as needed.
• Willing to operate equipment in all types of weather conditions and adhere to a schedule determined by client demand.
• Maintain required DOT, Federal, State and company records including handwritten logs or digital logs, hours of service, payroll hours, vehicle inspections, job and maintenance reports, service tickets, and shipping manifests according to state and federal DOT regulations.
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license with required endorsements.
