Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is seeking an Experienced Class A Truck Driver for 3rd shift in Smyrna, TN. You’ll operate tractor-trailer units delivering steel products between facilities and to customers, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timely delivery.

Shifts run Sunday-Thursday 6:30 p.m.–4:30 a.m. The role includes comprehensive benefits starting after 60 days, a competitive retirement plan, paid time off after 90 days, holidays from day one, tuition support for maintenance-related studies, and

Qualifications

• Ability to operate a clutch pedal
• Ability to operate a tractor trailer for up to 10 consecutive hours
• Knowledge of and ability to comply with all DOT and FMCSR requirements
• Class A CDL License and two years of driving experience, steel hauling preferred
• Ability to climb on and off the semi-trailer as needed
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Operates a truck with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver steel products
• Performs required daily vehicle inspections and monthly checklist to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
• Maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
• Secures cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers
• Inspects material placed on truck for defects before and after trips
• Maintains inspection paperwork and documentation relating to accidents or material defects
• Follows a pre-determined schedule of pickup and delivery
