The Truck Driver is responsible for operating trucks to transport dirt, aggregate, asphalt, and other materials and/or equipment to various job site locations. Work also includes yard tasks such as stockpiling and moving materials. This is a skilled position requiring safe and efficient operation of equipment with work performed under supervisor guidance. Class A CDL license required.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Follow all company policies and DOT/FMCSA regulations.
- Follow the Foreman's instructions regarding daily tasks and project expectations.
- Drive trucks equipped with dump bodies to transport and dump materials.
- Perform safety checks on the vehicle before operation.
- Monitor vehicle condition, including tires, lights, and fluid levels.
- Operate vehicle safely, exhibiting defensive driving skills.
- Obey weight limits and keep vehicle clean and free of obstructions.
- Operate controls for tarping loads, raising/lowering dump beds, and tailgate spreaders.
- Perform manual unloading and clean the truck bed after use.
Additional Responsibilities
- Monitor dash gauges and vehicle surroundings.
- Maintain communication via company radio.
- Complete daily logs and reports per regulations.
- Inspect vehicles for defects and report issues.
- Assist with manual labor such as shoveling or material handling as needed.
- Adhere to all safety and company policies.
- Perform physical activities including lifting up to 100 pounds and manual tasks.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years truck driving experience, preferably in road construction.
- Valid CDL License with current Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
