Job summary

Herc Rentals in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Tractor Trailer Driver to transport, deliver, and retrieve construction equipment while supporting branch operations. You will operate both commercial and non-commercial vehicles, perform pre- and post-delivery inspections, and ensure accurate paperwork and logs are maintained.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, current medical card, and Hazmat endorsement within 120 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years tractor trailer driving experience in the last 3 years.
• Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.
• Current medical card.
• Hazmat endorsement required within 120 days of employment; assistance provided.

Responsibilities

• Transport, deliver and retrieve construction and heavy equipment.
• Operate commercial or non-commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Promote professionalism and customer service.
• Perform vehicle inspections before and after pickups/deliveries.
• Maintain delivery documents for inspection.
• Apply driving skills in challenging environments (traffic, weather, terrain).
• Secure equipment using chains, straps, and blocks per DOT procedures.
• Communicate with Branch Manager/Dispatch regarding schedules.
• Observe safety rules at job sites and facilities.
• Provide basic training on safe vehicle/machinery operation to customers.
• Report equipment damage to Branch Manager/Dispatch.
• Report accidents involving driver/equipment.
• Report delays due to breakdowns or weather.
• Maintain flexible daily routine to meet customer demands.
• Maintain accurate paperwork and logs daily.
