The Class A CDL Route Driver is responsible for the safe and timely pickup, loading, transport, and delivery of used tires from customer locations along assigned routes. Drivers operate as part of a two-person team with a Route Helper, or as part of a three-person team for rig routes and are responsible for both operating the commercial vehicle and assisting with the manual loading and stacking of tires—including truck tires weighing up to 100 pounds each. Routes are assigned by dispatch; drivers are expected to manage daily route activities, maintain professionalism at customer locations, and complete all required documentation accurately, utilizing handheld devices or tablets as needed. This role requires strict adherence to DOT, FMCSA, and Liberty Tire Recycling safety and operational requirements, with emphasis on following proper body ergonomics and safe lifting techniques. Attention to detail, particularly in counting and documenting loads, is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle on assigned routes to remove used tires from customer locations.
  • Work as part of a two-person team with a Route Helper, or a three-person team for rig routes, to manually load, stack, and secure used tires onto the truck, ensuring safe maneuvering of the truck and trailer at customer locations.
  • Manually handle, load, and stack waste tires—including truck tires weighing up to or over 100 pounds-throughout the workday, adhering to proper body ergonomics and lifting techniques to prevent injury.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact at customer locations, including obtaining signatures and completing all required service documentation using handheld devices or tablets.
  • Ensure loads are properly stacked, secured, counted, and compliant with DOT and company safety requirements before transport. Obtain customer approval for loads and leave any required documentation with the customer.
  • Conduct required pre-trip, post-trip, and en-route inspections of assigned equipment; complete DVIRs and immediately report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Accurately complete DOT logs, route paperwork, bills of lading, and required company or customer documentation, maintaining precise tire counts with attention to detail, especially during busy loading processes.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and operational equipment at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, route helpers, and operations staff regarding route status, delays, or service issues.
  • Navigate assigned routes using maps, GPS, and dispatch instructions while accounting for traffic, weather, and site conditions.
  • Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customers, tire stores, dispatch, and internal teams.
  • Work as part of a two-person team with a Route Helper to manually load, stack, and secure used tires onto the truck.
  • Manually handle and stack waste tires weighing up to 50 pounds each throughout the workday.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact at customer locations, including obtaining signatures and completing required service documentation.
  • Ensure loads are properly stacked, secured, and compliant with DOT and company safety requirements before transport.

  • Follow all Liberty Tire Recycling safety policies, environmental standards, and operational procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support waste tire removal operations.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Ability to safely operate Class A equipment in route-based collection operations.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical labor, including lifting, stacking, and securing tires.
  • Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while operating as part of a team.
  • Clear and professional communication with dispatch, customers, and coworkers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum age of 22 years old.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Must meet all FMCSA driver qualification requirements.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record in compliance with DOT standards.
  • Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience or equivalent Class A CDL driving experience.
  • Ability to meet DOT physical, background, and DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Willingness to maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all customer and tire store locations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience performing manual loading and customer-facing route service.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role requires extended periods of driving, frequent customer interaction, outdoor work in varying weather conditions, and repetitive physical labor including lifting, bending, stacking, and securing waste tires during route operations.
