Job summary

US1225 FreshPoint Connecticut, LLC is seeking a backhaul driver to join our transportation team. This role involves night and day driving, cross-dock operations, loading assistance, and delivering orders to customers as prioritized by the Transportation Department Manager.

The position emphasizes safety, route efficiency, and accurate delivery verification, with duties including pre-trip inspections and adherence to DOT rules. CDL-A required with at least one year of driving experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: One year route delivery experience or driving tractor-trailer background.
• License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License – Class A.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
• Runs routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
• On occasions may require lifting, pushing, or moving products weighing 1–75 pounds, up to 100 pounds.
• Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain signatures.
• Contact management for invoice discrepancies and communicate all errors/returns.
• Call in if a customer does not receive their entire order (shorts).
• Handle customer complaints professionally.
• Handle company equipment properly and perform pre-trip inspections.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities per Department of Transportation regulations and Sysco policies.
