Job summary

Southshore Distribution LLC is seeking a local truck driver to transport goods using a 53' Dry Van between our truck yard, docks and two local warehouses.

You will perform pre- and post-inspections, maintain compliance with DOT, FMCSA and company procedures, and communicate professionally with customers and vendors. A Class A CDL is required, with preference for two years' experience; pass driving tests and possess federal documents.

• Must have all federal documents required for driving all related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Transport goods using a 53' Dry Van between yards, docks, and local warehouses.
• Move trailers from yard to docks and to local repair shops.

• Maintain a professional demeanor with customers and vendors.
• Adhere to DOT safety procedures and company policies.

Job description

Drivers will transport goods utilizing a 53' Dry Van for our customers. In this role you will be responsible for moving trailers, from the truck yard to and from docks, between 2 local warehouses, and to local repair shops. Drivers will transport goods utilizing a 53' Dry Van for our local customers. This position will also be responsible for trailer inspections and working closely with the fleet manager and warehouse supervisors. Our drivers must always drive safely and be professional and courteous when talking with our customers and vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

• To be DOT compliant and follow all company safety procedures.
• FMCSA compliant and Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse compliant.
• Ensure that all proper documentation is in order.
• Drive commercial transportation motor vehicle equipment. (Class A CDL driver's license.)
• Basic knowledge of vehicle operation and equipment.
• Complete pre- and post-inspections.
• Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Good customer relations.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two years' experience preferred but not required.
• Must pass driver's test
• Must have all federal documents required for driving all related equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to interact within a team environment.
• Must be able to get in and out of Spotter or Day cab numerous times throughout the day.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Normal driving environment.
• Work hours may vary depending on our customers' scheduled delivery time.
• Driver must carry a Medical Examiner's Certificate while operating a commercial motor vehicle. This certificate confirms that they meet FMCSA's physical qualification standard

Pay:

• $22.00-$25.00 per hour
