Job summary

CrossCountry Freight Solutions, Inc. is hiring a Class A Linehaul Driver in Des Moines, IA. You will haul trailers between customer/terminal locations, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure proper paperwork for DOT inspections.

This role features home daily with weekends off and a standard Monday–Friday shift starting at 4pm. The job requires a valid Class A CDL, 1 year of experience, Hazmat and Tanker endorsements (or willingness to obtain), and successful completion of a

• Hook up and haul trailers between locations as directed by dispatch.
• Ensure shipping documents are ready for DOT inspection and accompany shipments.
• Operate tractor-trailer over long distances.

JOB TITLE: Class A Linehaul Driver

DEPARTMENT: Operations

JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt

SHIFT: Monday-Friday, (4pm Start)

ROUTE: Float

• Des Moines, IA to Eagan, MN to Des Moines, IA (462 miles)
• Des Moines, IA to Kansas City, KS to Des Moines, IA (414 miles)
• Des Moines, IA to Omaha, NE to Des Moines, IA (Flat Rate, $150/trip)
• Occasional P&D work (paid Hourly, $34/hr)

PAY:$0.72/mile (singles)
REPORTS TO: Linehaul Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: No

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Hook up and haul trailers between our customer/terminal locations as instructed by dispatch or immediate supervisor
• Ensure all shipping documentation is available for DOT inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies the shipment to the delivery point
• Operate tractor-trailer combination for extended periods of time, over long distances

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Class A CDL
• At least 21 years of age
• 1 year of commercial driving experience
• No DUI’s or DWI’s (in the past 3 years)
• No more than 3 traffic violations (in past 3 years)
• Must have Hazmat and Tanker endorsements or be willing to obtain - renewals reimbursable
• Must have Doubles endorsement
• This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment skills assessment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to frequently enter and exit the cab of a commercial vehicle.
• Must be able to carry freight weighing up to 40 pounds for a distance of up to 20 feet.
• Must be able to hook and unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, to manually lower and raise landing gear, to operate fifth wheel release levers, to lock and release pintle-hooks, to attach and release safety chains, to open and close cargo doors, to climb into and out of vehicles, and to fuel and check oil/coolant levels of vehicles.
