Job summary

Responsibilities

• Comply with laws, policies, procedures and safety/dot regulations.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document accordingly.
• Maintain accurate delivery and equipment records; submit end-of-shift documents.
• Maintain communication with dispatcher and customers.
• Attend safety trainings and keep licenses/certifications current.
• Operate company property safely (containers, trailers, chassis, forklifts).
• Assist with loading and unloading of vehicles.
• Follow directions from MGF Dispatcher.

POSITION: CDL A License Driver

REPORTS TO: MGF Dispatcher

POSITION SUMMARY:

Primarily responsible for transporting freight to or from original destination to scheduled location and ensuring efficient delivery of goods within time constraints as directed by dispatcher.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Comply with all laws, Company's policies, procedures and safety protocol, and DOT regulations at all times.
• Ensures that vehicle is in a proper and safe operating condition as outlined in the CDL code by performing daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, completing proper documentation, and notifying supervisor of any repairs needed.
• Keep accurate information in regards to deliveries and equipment; complete and turn in all pertinent documentation at the end of shift.
• Maintain proper communication with dispatcher and customers.
• Attend all safety training and provide valid certifications/licenses as mandated.
• Operate company property safely, i.e., the moving of containers, trailers, chassis, flatbeds, forklifts, etc.
• Performs other labor including the loading and unloading of vehicles.
• Perform other duties as directed by MGF Dispatcher.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

• Must have a current Class A Commercial Driver's License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

• 3 - 5 years of commercial driving experience
• Piggyback lift experience preferred

MENTAL, PHYSICAL and COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires lifting 75 lbs., bending, climbing in and out of operating equipment, and walking
• Requires long periods of sitting behind the wheel of a moving vehicle and speaking with various individuals via phones and two-way radios
• Maintain a presentable appearance at all times.
• Interpersonal and professional oral communication skills needed in dealing with all levels of employees, vendors and clients.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Work under minimal supervision, apply logic and reasoning to solve complex problems, use sound judgment and discretion in performing work duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Primarily outdoors, prolonged hours on the road, driving from one location to the next.

NORMAL WORK HOURS:

• Monday - Friday, as scheduled by MGF Dispatcher
• May require working overtime, on weekends and holidays per direction of MGF Dispatcher.

• Follows and adheres to all internal policies and procedures, House and Safety Rules, and any employee policy guidelines if applicable.
• Executes goals and direction provided by MGF Dispatcher.
