Job summary

City Haul Inc. in Chicago, IL is hiring a CDL-A Intermodal Truck Driver for full-time dayshift. Compensation ranges from $27 to $47 per hour with weekly pay between $1,100 and $1,900.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL and a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate, plus at least two years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience. Intermodal, port, or regional experience is preferred while safety and compliance come first.

Qualifications

• CDL-A license with valid DOT Medical Examiner’s certificate.
• Minimum 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience (intermodal preferred).
• Experience with intermodal, port, drayage, or regional routes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Transport intermodal containers on local and regional routes.
• Secure containers on intermodal chassis.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report equipment issues.
• Process paperwork: BOLs, PODs, inspection photos.
• Follow DOT/FMCSA Hours of Service and regulations.
• Use ELDs and dispatch systems to manage routes.
• Complete required paperwork for shipments.

What You’ll Do

• Transport intermodal containers on local and regional routes.
• Pick up and deliver containers to ports, rail yards, warehouses, and customer facilities.
• Safely secure containers to intermodal chassis.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report equipment issues.
• Follow DOT/FMCSA regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
• Use ELDs and mobile dispatch systems to manage routes and documentation.
• Complete BOLs, PODs, inspection photos, and other required paperwork.
• Follow required procedures for HazMat and refrigerated containers when assigned.
• Represent City Haul professionally with customers and facility personnel.

What You Bring

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• At least 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
• Intermodal, port, drayage, or regional experience preferred.
• Experience with container chassis operations preferred.
• ELD and mobile dispatch experience preferred.
• Strong safety awareness, communication, and reliability.
• Ability to meet applicable DOT/FMCSA driver qualification requirements.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts of up to 14 hours, as permitted by Hours of Service regulations.

Preferred

• HazMat and Tanker endorsement and experience.
• Refrigerated container (reefer) experience.

Physical & Work Environment

• Extended periods of driving and sitting.
• Ability to climb in and out of the truck and perform equipment inspections.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
• Outdoor work in varied weather and port/rail-yard environments.
