Job summary

American Driver LLC in Perth Amboy, NJ is seeking local intermodal drivers who want to sleep at home every night. Drive for a living with constant runs, mostly drop and hook, and be paid by the load and by the mile. New CDL-A holders welcome.

Training starts at $650 per week, then $1,200 to $1,800 per week once solo, with 1,100–1,700 miles weekly and weekly pay. Orientation covered, 2 days, 30 days to run solo with mentor, benefits include medical/dental, 401(k), and a stock purchase plan;

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ with a Class A CDL.
• New drivers: at least 120 hours from CDL school or 6 months of recent experience.
• Up to 2 moving violations in the last 2 years and no DUI/DWI in the last 10 years.
• Must pass DOT physical and hair/urine drug test.

Responsibilities

• Move containers from the Avenel yard to customers across New Jersey.
• Mostly drop and hook with some live loads.
• Home daily.

From CDL school to running solo

1. A recruiter calls you and reviews your CDL and driving record with you.
2. Orientation, 2 days at most. Hotel paid, one-way bus ticket reimbursed, $300 for orientation once hired.
3. 4 to 6 weeks with a mentor: backing, trip planning, logs and fueling. You are paid $650 a week.
4. You run local container moves on your own and go home every night.

• "How often will I see home?" Every night.
• "Do I pay for orientation?" No. Hotel covered, bus ticket reimbursed, and $300 once you are hired.
• "Does my CDL school count?" If it was 120 hours or more, yes.
• "What if I have a problem on the road?" Loads are planned for you, and your driver leader picks up the phone.

To qualify

You must be 21 or older with a Class A CDL. New drivers need at least 120 hours from a CDL school; otherwise, 6 months of recent experience. We accept up to 2 moving violations in the last 2 years and no DUI/DWI in the last 10. You will also pass a DOT physical and a hair and urine drug test.
