Lever, Inc. in Fort Worth, TX is hiring a CDL A Heavy Equipment & Railroad Laborer to support railroad emergency response, equipment transport, rerailing, track work, and construction projects.

This role combines commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, rigging, equipment handling, and physical site work with extended weeks and 24/7 on-call requirements. Starting pay is $26.00/hour with higher pay based on experience and a full benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL with a good driving record.
  • Construction labor or other physically demanding work experience.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy construction and railroad equipment.
  • Ability to complete required training, qualification testing, and safety programs.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and responding to emergency calls.

Responsibilities

  • Perform DOT-compliant pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Drive tractor-trailers and transport trucks, trailers, equipment, and materials to job sites.
  • Verify loads and permits for overweight or oversize equipment.
  • Participate in job planning and safety meetings.
  • Load, unload, stage, secure, and move equipment and materials.
  • Support railroad derailment response, rerailing, specialty lifting, track maintenance, and construction work.
  • Assist with cranes and other heavy equipment.
  • Perform rigging using chains, cables, and winches.
  • Operate qualified equipment including cranes, backhoes, grapple trucks, dump trucks, excavators, and other rail/construction equipment.
  • Use hydraulic tools, welding and cutting equipment, electrical tools, and hand tools.
  • Disassemble, load, and secure equipment after assignments.
  • Monitor equipment for operating problems and help reduce downtime.
  • Perform minor vehicle/equipment service and report major mechanical issues.
  • Restock vehicles and equipment with parts, supplies, and components.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Support other teams and departments as needed.

Location: Fort Worth, TX
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Starting Pay: $26.00/hour — higher pay available depending on experience
Schedule: 40 hours guaranteed + significant overtime
On-Call: 24/7, including weekends and holidays
Benefits: Full benefits package

Position Overview

Seeking a Class A CDL holder for a hands-on role supporting railroad emergency response, equipment transport, rerailing, load transfers, track work, and construction projects.

The position combines commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, rigging, equipment handling, and physical job-site work. Employees should be prepared for extended workweeks, with typical schedules averaging 60+ hours and some weeks reaching approximately 70 hours.

What You'll Do
  • Perform DOT-compliant pre- and post-trip inspections.

Schedule & Overtime
  • 40 hours guaranteed per week.
  • Significant overtime available; combined regular and overtime hours typically average 60+ hours per week.
  • Hours outside Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM are paid at time-and-a-half.
  • 24/7 emergency on-call availability is required.
  • Weekend and holiday availability is required.
  • During downtime, employees may assist with safety training, preventive maintenance, and shop/equipment work.
Requirements
  • Valid Class A CDL with a good driving record.
  • Construction labor or other physically demanding work experience.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy construction and railroad equipment.
  • Ability to complete required training, qualification testing, and safety programs.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and responding to emergency calls.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work safely.
Heavy Equipment Experience

3+ years preferred, including experience with:

  • Backhoe

Equivalent combinations of training and experience may be considered.
