Job summary

National Salvage & Service Corporation in Birmingham area is seeking an experienced Grapple Truck Knuckle Boom Loader Operator with a Class A CDL. You will work in our Recycling Yard Team on a daytime Monday-Friday schedule, with potential overtime and weekends in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities include loading trucks/rail cars, handling logs and debris, completing daily paperwork, and complying with safety policies. A valid CDL-A and hands-on operation experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience operating a knuckle boom log loader or grapple.
• CDL Class A license required.
• Able to work long hours, overtime, and weekends in various weather conditions.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test.
• Ability to operate a smartphone GPS and ELD.

Responsibilities

• Operate a knuckle boom log loader or grapple to load trucks and rail cars.
• Pick up railroad ties and other wood with a rear-mounted log loader.
• Remove debris at sites using the log loader boom.
• Fill out daily paperwork.
• Maintain safety and follow all policies and procedures.
• Work overtime and weekends as needed.

DUTIES TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Picking up railroad ties and other wood using a rear mounted log loader boom
• Loading trucks or rail cars in a fast paced environment
• Operating a chainsaw
• Removing debris at sites using log loader boom
• Able to work long hours overtime and possible weekends in various weather conditions
• Filling out daily paperwork
• Ability to use a smartphone GPS and Electronic Logging Device

POSITION SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

• Must have hands on experience operating a knuckle boom log loader or grapple
• Able to work long hours in all weather conditions
• Hold valid drivers license a CDL CLASS A is required
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
• Follow all Safety Program Policies and Procedures
• Completely and accurately fill out daily paperwork
• Able to learn the basic use of a smartphone
• Basic mechanical knowledge in order to make small repairs change hydraulic hose grease and lube safety walk around inspection
• Able to pass pre employment drug test and random drug tests after hiring
