Job summary

CJ Hughes Construction is seeking a CDL Driver – Gas Distribution to join a crew and support installation, repair, and replacement of underground natural gas pipelines. This role consists of approximately 20% CDL driving and 80% laborer duties, operating CDL‑required vehicles and assisting with labor tasks on outdoor construction sites.

The position is physically demanding, outdoors, and requires safety awareness, teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL‑A or B driver's license (required) (no restriction).
• Minimum 1 year CDL driving experience.
• Minimum 1 year heavy labor experience.
• Valid DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain).
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate CDL‑required vehicles including dump trucks, trailers, and equipment haulers over 26,000 lbs.
• Haul equipment, pipe, materials, and debris to and from job sites.
• Load, unload, and secure materials using chains, straps, tarps, and other tie‑down methods.
• Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and complete required documentation.
• Maintain driver logs when required.
• Assist crew with labor duties including digging, shoveling, and site preparation.
• Perform heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Work in various weather conditions and job site environments.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures while maintaining awareness in the “red zone”
• Necessary maintenance on truck (grease truck) if needed.
• Perform duties as assigned by supervisor to support overall crew production and efficiency

CDL Dump Truck Driver Gas Distribution

The CDL Driver – Gas Distribution will be assigned to a crew and assist in the installation, repair, and replacement of underground natural gas pipelines and related services. This position consists of approximately 20% CDL driving duties and 80% laborer duties.

This is a physically demanding role that requires working in outdoor construction environments while supporting gas distribution pipeline construction, maintenance, and repair. The individual will be responsible for operating CDL-required vehicles while also performing general labor tasks and supporting the crew as needed.

Employment Requirements

• Valid Drivers License and Reliable Transportation


• Must provide documentation to verify identity and employment eligibility in accordance with federal I‑9 requirements


• Ability to pass drug test and background check


• Willingness to travel and work in different areas as needed

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor


• Ability to work overtime and extended hours based on workload


• Must be 18 years of age
