Overview

JA Frate is a well-established, growing, asset-based transportation and logistics company in the Chicagoland area offering a full suite of services including LTL and FTL touch freight, warehousing, distribution, and freight brokerage. We thrive on delivering flexible, reliable, and cost-effective domestic supply chain solutions to our customers. We are seeking a reliable and experienced CDL Class A Driver to join our team.

Shift & Schedule

We currently have 2nd shift (2pm or 4pm start time) available – this is a full-time position out of our Elk Grove Village terminal. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9–10 hour shifts. Home every night and no weekends.

Candidates will be asked to train at our Crystal Lake home base terminal for the first week (paid mileage).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT regulations
• Transport goods and materials to various locations
• Load and unload cargo
• Ensure all cargo is secured properly and safely
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies

Requirements

• Must have a valid CDL A and be able to drive a tractor‑trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds GVW to transport a variety of pallet and non‑palletized goods
• Experience of at least 2 years driving with CDLA
• Pick up and delivery experience preferred
• Must be at least 23 years old
• CDL Hazardous Materials & Tanker Endorsements preferred; will be required to obtain within 3 months of hire
• Ability to complete assigned tasks within required time frames
• Ability to take care of the customer’s needs while following company procedures
• Professional communication skills with employees and customers
• Demonstrate professional conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards
• Work at a sustained pace and produce quality work
• Be internally driven to perform a task to the best of one's ability using personal drive or initiative
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
• No convictions for a serious or disqualifying traffic violation within the last three years; no more than four moving violations in the past 36 months, and no more than two moving violations in the previous 12 months
• Must be able to pass drug screen, DOT physical, and Functional Employment Physical and be willing to participate in Random Drug Program

May be required to load and unload truck occasionally; forklift experience a plus.
