Job summary

BlueLinx is seeking a dependable CDL A driver to deliver lumber products and manage returns across state lines. You will maintain DOT logs, complete trip reports, and communicate with dispatch to ensure on-time deliveries.

A valid DOT record, clean driving history, and willingness to travel are essential. The position offers a starting hourly rate of $30, access to medical/dental/vision coverage, 401K, and paid time off plus holidays.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A required.
• 21+ years old required.
• 12 months of verifiable tractor trailer experience in the past 3 years.
• Willing to travel 2–3 days per week.
• Safe driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timely delivery of freight and handling of customer product returns when required.
• Manage Proof of Delivery paperwork from customers.
• Interact professionally with customers and communicate customer issues.
• Maintain daily safety checklist and perform all required DOT inspections.
• Maintain electronic logbook and complete trip reports.
• Direct the unloading by customers, when required.
• Safely deliver lumber products to various urban locations across state lines.
• Maintain delivery schedules as assigned by dispatch.
• Operate curtain-side trailers and manage curtain systems at each stop.
• Secure loads using tie-down straps; occasionally hand unload small materials.
• Communicate regularly with dispatch to report progress or issues.
• Monitor road conditions and plan routes using GPS or maps to avoid delays.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, report mechanical issues promptly.
• Follow proper procedures in case of accidents or incidents.
• Keep trucks and equipment clean and well-maintained.
• Comply with mandated rest periods and DOT regulations.
• Maintain accurate trip logs using ELOG and complete Driver Trip Reports.
