Job description

Job Summary:

Sysco has immediate job openings for CDL A Delivery Truck Driver Trainees without a CDL to train to become dependable Delivery Partners. You will train for your Class-A CDL, including how to safely operate a tractor-trailer, unload/deliver various products to an assigned route schedule, and build relationships with each customer using a positive, friendly attitude. You will also become familiar with their operations to meet needs and expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Unload product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart and place in designated customer storage areas.
2. Transport products down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions.
3. Bend and twist constantly while loading and unloading products and retrieving items from the trailer.
4. Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures. Contact management for authorization when there are invoice discrepancies and communicate all errors/returns.
5. Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities following DOT regulations and Sysco policies.
6. Pickup, load, and unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork.
7. Complete DOT logs (electronic or manual), vehicle maintenance reports, and reconcile with the appropriate company representative.
8. Deliver products within the assigned route schedule and time windows. Immediately inform management of any deviations.

Qualifications:

1. Must be 21+ years of age.
2. Must obtain a valid CDL Permit and DOT medical certification prior to pre-employment background check.
3. Must submit to and pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check).
4. Must obtain CDL within ninety (90) days of start date to remain employed.
5. One year of Distribution/Warehouse experience or military experience in lieu of.

Licenses/Certifications Required:

Driver’s License with a “clean” driving record (no single DUI in the last three years and no multiple DUIs within the last seven years).

Professional Skills:

1. Strong communication skills.
2. Good mathematical and arithmetic skills. Must have a positive attitude.

Physical Demands:

Frequently lift, push, or move products weighing up to 100 pounds. Frequently reach up to 72” to stack and unstack pallets.

Working Conditions:

Must have schedule flexibility, including overtime hours, working weekends and holidays, and the ability to start and end at various times to meet customer needs.
