Job summary

G&J Pepsi-Cola in Columbus, Ohio seeks a Delivery Driver Trainee to learn and perform duties across the sales team, including stocking and delivering products to customer locations.

You will work four 10‑hour shifts on the 1st shift, starting at 4, 5, or 6 am, with overtime as needed. A High School diploma, 6–12 months of sales experience, and a valid CDL-A are required; on‑the‑job training is provided.

Schedule: 1st Shift, 4 10-hour shifts each week beginning at 4 am, 5 am, or 6 am based on business needs; availability of Monday - Saturday

Position Summary

To serve our customers by being trained to perform the job duties of different positions within the sales team and also to provide coverage for these positions during absences.

Essential Functions
  • Delivers, stocks, rotates, displays and maintains all products at customer locations according to established standards.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with: customers and consumers at customer locations; Territory Account Managers and Territory Delivery Managers at Pepsi; and other internal employees at Pepsi (e.g. warehouse employees, sales equipment employees).
  • Invoices customers for sales; collects payment (e.g. cash, check).
  • Involves handling, stocking, and organizing alcoholic products.
  • Communicates with retailers and Pepsi management team on issues regarding pricing, products, programs and problems that may arise in the store.
  • Adheres to all company policies, standards and procedures (e.g. OSHA and safety requirements, AIB and Pepsi standards, Federal/State/Local laws); wears all required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintains customer’s product inventory by delivering the appropriate amount of product needed to satisfy customer’s needs until the next scheduled delivery.
  • Maintains and completes required paperwork (e.g. DOT logs); maintains confidentiality of product pricing, promotions and other sensitive and confidential information.
  • Communicates with supervisors and co-workers about retailer situations in order to maintain established customer service standards.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required meeting workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience

6-12 months of previous sales experience with a consumer product line and customer relations experience.

Certifications & Licenses

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License; employee must be insurable to operate a vehicle, as a condition of initial and continued employment.

Knowledge of: stocking, rotating and displaying products; retail sales environment; product line; beverage industry. Skill in: service in a variety of settings. Ability to: work quickly and efficiently without direct supervision; solve problems; multi-task; adapt to changing tasks and priorities; read diagrams and maps; communicate effectively with customers, relate to customers and develop good working relationships; be trained on a two and four-wheel hand cart, pallet jack, straddle stacker, hand held computer and printer and other mechanical equipment; drive a combination vehicle, lift heavy product repetitively, accurately count inventory on vehicle; read (e.g. diagrams, maps, planograms) and write.
