Job Overview

The essential functions and basic duties of the CDL Driver include performing pre and post trip inspections of their vehicle, ensuring safe loading and handling procedures. As a Delivery Driver, responsibilities also encompass delivering and unloading products, reviewing paperwork for accuracy, checking order quantities, correcting addresses, completing timecards, entering trip data into the onboard computer, and maintaining paper logs if necessary.

Job Responsibilities

• Delivering and unloading products using equipment such as tractor trailers, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, load bars, and other delivery tools.
• Operating the vehicle safely within UNFI guidelines to minimize accidents, traffic violations, and customer complaints.
• Reporting accidents immediately to the Transportation Manager/Department.
• Maintaining vehicles in a safe and secure condition, reporting any defects promptly using the DCVR form.
• Picking up supplies and backhauls from vendors and completing related paperwork.
• Addressing and resolving customer issues as needed.
• Ensuring customer orders arrive in good condition and match the initial order.

Job Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid medical card as per FMCSA requirements and a valid state-specific Commercial Driver’s License (Class A).
• Ability to pass written exams and road tests.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) laws and UNFI safety standards.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• At least one year of Class A CDL driving experience.
• Good judgment, especially when supervision is not immediately available.

Work Environment

This position requires starting and ending the day at the UNFI Manchester location, delivering to multiple customers along a designated route.
