Job summary

Halperns’ Steak & Seafood in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Delivery Driver 3 to join our logistics team. The role emphasizes safe, on-time deliveries of Halperns’ products with a strong customer-facing focus.

The position requires a CDL A, DOT medical card, and at least 6 months driving experience, with a 21+ age minimum. Starting pay ranges from $65,000 to $70,000 annually, with home daily runs and no-touch freight.

• Accurately collects customer payments; safeguards company funds.
• Monitors reefer temperature and reports issues promptly.
• Completes daily check-ins with accuracy and timeliness.
• Collaborates with management and sales to communicate customer concerns.
• Performs daily pre/post trip inspections and manages paperwork.

Position Summary:

Presents a positive image to Halperns’ Steak and Seafood customers through courteous, on-time, and accurate deliveries of Halperns’ products. Communicates customer issues and concerns. Operates Halperns’ equipment in a professional and safe manner demonstrating attention to detail, safe work habits, working knowledge of equipment and the ability to deal effectively with customers and the public.

Essential Functions:

• Ensures safe, accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of Halperns’ products.
• Follows all company and Department of Transportation (DOT) policies and procedures.
• Builds and maintains good customer relationships. Demonstrates self-control.
• Accurately collects customer payments. Safeguards company funds and follows Halperns’ banking policies.
• Monitors reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in a timely manner.
• Completes daily check-ins in a timely manner with no errors.
• Collaborates with management and sales representatives to communicate customer concerns.
• Performs daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles and equipment. Completes check in process accurately and on time. Manages paperwork to include register, credits, pick-ups, etc
• Maintains the truck cab and trailer in a clean and organized manner
• Attends department meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Ability to adhere to all safety/compliance regulations and procedures.
• Must maintain a professional appearance.
• Requires punctuality, problem solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and also function in a team environment.
• Must be goal oriented with a positive “can-do” attitude.
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of this job including lifting, pushing, pulling of product.

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

• Ability to operate a van, straight truck and/or tractor-trailer CMV as appropriate
• Must be able to operate a dolly with a load weighing up to 350 pounds.
• Uses dollies and other safety equipment to aid in the lifting and carrying of products.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

• At least 6 months previous driving tractor/trailer experience required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• DOT Medical Card required.
• CDL A required at hire.
• High School / Equivalent preferred.
