Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a skilled CDI professional to ensure complete, accurate documentation in patient records and to optimize DRG accuracy. You will work with physicians, coders, and care teams to improve coding quality and reimbursement outcomes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or health informatics, RN or RHIA certification, and CDI credentials. Strong ICD-10 and DRG knowledge, plus experience in inpatient coding, are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Health Information Management or Health Informatics.
• RN or RHIA certification.
• One or more CDI certifications (CCS, CCDS, CCDOSCP, CCDS-O, CDIP, CPC).
• 4+ years of nursing experience or 4 years inpatient coding/ CDI experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, DRG mechanics, SOI/ROM, and ROM-related mortality considerations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate accurate, timely documentation of medical conditions in patient records.
• Review records to ensure complete documentation and update DRG when appropriate.
• Promote documentation for clinical conditions and procedures to support SOI/ROM/CMI.
• Collaborate with coders, CDI specialists, physicians and care teams.
• Educate practitioners about documentation opportunities and CDI best practices.
• Collaborate to validate accurate DRG assignments.
• Develop ongoing education on documentation and CDI best practices.
• Analyze data to improve documentation practices affecting reimbursement and data reporting.
