Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree is required.
  • Three years of clinical RN experience in outpatient/ambulatory or inpatient setting.
  • Three years of LPN experience in outpatient/ambulatory or inpatient setting.
  • RHIT or RHIA certification through AHIMA, OR CCS, CPC, CRC, CCDS/CCDS-O, CDIP, CDEI/CDEO certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process improvement teams and coordinate testing with IT.
  • Provide analytics, requirements, outcomes, interpretation and development.
  • Set up and maintain data bases and workflows; provide drill down analytics.
  • Consult with team members, providers, and leadership on data interpretation.

The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Analyst provides expertise to clinical documentation process improvement and data analytics teams, oversight committees, and senior leadership in the areas of data acquisition, integration, monitoring, interpretation, and analytic design. This position is responsible for ensuring data integrity, accuracy, reliability, and interpretation of all relevant information using various applications. Effective use of multiple software tools and analytic skills are necessary to be successful in this role. This position is expected to perform analytical work with limited supervision and with full responsibility for various projects and report/data production.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR LICENSURE:
  • Associates Degree
  • Three (3) years clinical experience as Registered Nurse in outpatient/ambulatory or inpatient acute care setting
  • Three (3) of clinical experience as Licensed Practical Nurse in outpatient/ambulatory or inpatient acute care setting
  • Certification in one of the following:
  • Health Information Management with Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) OR Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) through The American Health Information Management Association.
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through The American Health Information Management Association.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through The American Academy of Professional Coders.
  • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) through The American Academy of Professional Coders.
  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) OR Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist- Outpatient (CCDS-O) through the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists.
  • Certified Documentation Integrity Practitioner (CDIP) through the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists.
  • Certified Documentation Expert Inpatient (CDEI) or Certified Documentation Expert Outpatient (CDEO) through The American Academy of Professional Coders.
Experience
  • Two (2) years CDI experience
  • Three (3) years of experience with various computer applications including Excel, 3M360, Epic, Word, Tableau, and Power Point etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data extraction.
  • Experience with the Development and maintenance of metrics and communication dashboards.
  • Experience in Revenue Cycle.

Responsible for collaboration with IT.
  • Provides expertise in analytics, requirements, outcomes, interpretation, and development.
  • Sets up and maintains data bases and workflows. Provides drill down analytics and validation of data.
  • Provides consultation to team members, providers, and leadership regarding the interpretation of data.
  • Assists in CDI Staffing as needed.
  • Contributes to performance monitoring and capacity planning for assigned applications.
  • Uses analytical skills to complete end-user requests for support/changes to existing applications and interfaces as appropriate.
  • Trouble shoots problems, identifies changes needed to resolve problems or satisfy requests, and reports status of work to end-user. Performs department and user needs analysis for the purpose of daily system operational support including problem resolution and potential application changes.
  • Builds, tests, and maintains reports. Identifies opportunities to enhance analysis and reporting data.
