Job description

Tetra Tech is adding a CDBG-DR Subject Matter Expert (SME) to our Case Management team based in Remote. This role requires occasional business travel.

Travel Requirement:

This position involves frequent travel, potentially up to 21 days at a time, for project meetings, client guidance, and oversight.

Your Role:

The Disaster Recovery division seeks a CDBG-DR SME with expertise in the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program. Responsibilities include supporting the development and management of CDBG-DR initiatives, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and collaborating with stakeholders including government agencies and community groups.

The SME will work with a team of practice leaders and project managers to implement federal programs across the U.S., develop processes, and lead projects. The role requires teamwork, independence, strong organizational skills, client interaction, travel flexibility, and adaptability to changing priorities.

  • Provide guidance on CDBG-DR program design and implementation.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and guidelines for compliance.
  • Collaborate with local governments and agencies to identify community needs.
  • Offer technical assistance and conduct training to enhance stakeholder capacity.
  • Serve as a liaison among federal, state, and local agencies and community organizations.
  • Facilitate community engagement activities.
  • Keep current on disaster recovery trends and policies.
  • Conduct research to inform program decisions.
  • Work hours may vary to accommodate stakeholder meetings.
  • Follow internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Maintain professional development and safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience, preferably in federal or state grant agencies.
  • Extensive knowledge of HUD CDBG-DR and related federal programs.
  • Experience managing budgets and financials.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the U.S. and territories.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; ability to learn new systems like SharePoint.
