Job summary

University of Washington’s School of Nursing seeks an Instructional Designer to transform traditional courses into dynamic, competency-based online programs. You will partner with faculty and leadership to redesign the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) curriculum, apply evidence-based design, and integrate educational technology across online and hybrid formats.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Education/ID/EDT or related field.
• 3+ years designing and developing online courses in a higher education environment.
• Applied expertise in course conversion with an emphasis on instructional alignment and pedagogical integrity.
• Strong knowledge of learning theory, adult learning principles, and instructional models such as ADDIE or Backward Design.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional design consultation and support for curriculum development aligned with Competency-Based Education (CBE) principles.
• Support the DNP program transition to an online format with high-quality instructional design.
• Apply evidence-based instructional strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
• Integrate learning technologies into course design to support interactive, student-centered environments.
• Manage small to mid-size instructional design projects from planning through implementation.
