Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Kids Ministry Teacher – Non-Licensed is responsible for ministering to children and families in our community by offering a Christ-centered childcare program and to provide them with a safe, secure, and loving environment that encourages and allows for each child to grow emotionally, physically, mentally, socially, and most of all spiritually. This role is to provide a safe, nurturing, Christian educational learning environment for all children so that a greater understanding of God’s love can be portrayed. This role is part of a team of leaders who make our ministry to kids happen every week. This position also helps in guiding, training, and assisting volunteer All Stars in developing their gifts as they serve the children of CBC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in planning/preparation to provide environments for kids to experience a relationship with Jesus through weekly services and classes.
  • Help to recruit, train, and empower volunteer All Stars to develop their gifts and minister to our children in these environments.
  • Assist with the set-up of rooms and small group supplies for weekend services and mid-week classes, as needed.
  • Assist with the physical environment and oversee the drop-off/pick-up of children during weekend service hours.
  • Lead ministry activities for a preschool class during services, including teaching Bible lessons, leading groups in crafts/experiments/activities, and other children's activities.
  • Work to ensure the quality of all areas, ensuring cleanliness, order, safety, and security of all rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Build relationships with and consistently encourage and pray for parents and volunteers connected to the ministry.
  • Assist with overall children’s ministry functions and special events through planning and attendance as needed.
  • Attend team huddles, meetings, and CBC Kids staff meetings, as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Kids Pastor.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a part-time position; hours and days are determined by availability. Some weekends and evenings are required as job duties demand.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms.
  • Must be able to move about the classroom and storage rooms to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form.
  • Must be able to frequently lift children up to 75 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years related work or volunteer experience with children.
  • Evidence of the CBC Way – Honor, Humility, Hustle, Hospitality, High Capacity.
  • Obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in a childcare/classroom setting with occasional outside events/activities that require prolonged standing. The environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple activities in a childcare setting.
