Job description

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Shall have supervisory authority to direct work centers and personnel to accomplish specific maintenance actions as required to accomplish the mission.
  2. The Maintenance Control Representatives shall have an in-depth working knowledge of the CNAFINST 4790.2 Series and all applicable T/M/S technical publications which apply to their applicable Type/Model/Series (T/M/S) specific aircraft as well have a working knowledge of the Special Projects/Flight Clearances/Interim Flight Clearances which are applicable to their assigned T/M/S aircraft.
  3. They must have a working knowledge of the Aircraft Modification Instruction (VX-31INST 13050/1 Series) process.
  4. These personnel will Release Aircraft Safe for Flight (SFF), monitor maintenance SCIR documentation via the NALCOMIS system, review Aircraft Weight and Balance forms for accuracy, direct scheduled/unscheduled maintenance actions to meet operational tasking identified by the government/flight schedule, brief aircrew prior to Functional Check Flights (FCF), review aircrew documentation of aircraft FCF performance, request cannibalization authorization from GMR when required, coordinate Depot Level Inspection/Repair actions, assign workload priorities, manage awaiting maintenance and material status, manage T/M/S Aircraft configuration, screen, maintain and sign Aeronautical Equipment Service Records, Aircraft Logbooks, liaise with Quality Assurance (QA), liaise with Projects Coordinator, understand Navy Working Capital Fund concept, notify Government Oversight QAR's of all Flight Critical, Safety of Flight, and mandatory QA inspections, monitor high time components, establish supply priorities, and coordinate work center maintenance tasking to meet daily Flight Schedule and Ground Test Requirements.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:

* Military VMET or JST MUST be included with application to be considered (if prior military)*

  1. Shall have completed the Navy Class "C" for Maintenance Material Control Management or the equivalent (2 years as a Naval Maintenance Control Chief/Leading Petty Officer/Staff Non-Commissioned Officer billet with supporting USN/USMC/United States Coast Guard (USCG) documentation)
  2. Possess an extensive background in the field of aircraft maintenance and material support with a minimum of 15 years of experience with 10 years of the last 15 years in direct aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modification.
  3. Of the last 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, 6 years shall be in a supervisory position that included responsibility for assigning program workloads as well as duties for entire shifts.
  4. Must have experience supervising daily flight operations personnel supporting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  5. Knowledgeable of technical directives and CNAFINST 4790.2 Series; be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures; possess a working knowledge of applicable aircraft and shall have worked a minimum of one year in a maintenance/production control position.
  6. Prior military Personnel with Aviation Ordnance, Parachute Rigger, and Aviation Maintenance Administration ratings will not be accepted to fill VX-31 Maintenance Control billets.
  7. Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, MH-60S or AV-8B aircraft strongly preferred.
  8. High School graduate or equivalent.
  9. Must have a valid driver's license.
  10. Must possess a U.S. Secret Clearance and be able to maintain same.
  11. Must be available to work any shift.
  12. Must be U.S. Citizen
  13. Travel may be required
  14. Capable of writing with clarity and technical accuracy.
  15. May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
  16. May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
  17. May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
  18. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
  19. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
