Job description

As a Cavalry Scout, you'll act as the eyes and ears on the field, gathering information about enemy positions, vehicles, weapons, and activity. You'll determine whether to call for reinforcements and when to order a retreat. With the information you'll gather, commanders can make informed decisions about troop movements and attack strategies.

Soldiers in this job will enlist as an Armor Crewmember Recruit (19U) and be assigned to a specific Armor job (a 19-Series MOS) based on available Army opportunities and skills assessed at Basic Combat Training.

Requirements
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident with a valid Green Card
  • Age: 17-34 years
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must meet tattoo guidelines
  • No major law violations
  • No significant medical concerns
Training & Certifications
  • 30 nationally recognized certifications available
  • 22 weeks of One Station Unit Training, including Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training
  • 77 ASVAB Score: Combat (CO)
