Job summary

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, is seeking a Cattle Accounts Payable at our Long Prairie plant to manage payments and reporting for cattle transactions. The role requires attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and daily interaction with farmers, sale barns, and USDA representatives.

You will handle end-of-day reconciliations, 1099 processing, and ensure proper tagging and weight reporting for paid lots, while supporting safety and quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Must have considerable working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel.
• Must be able to professionally communicate with farmers, sale barns, co-workers, USDA, APHIS, sister companies, and cattle buyers.
• Must have a very high attention to detail and correct errors while multitasking.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, and write).

Responsibilities

• Compile all sale barn/owner information for USDA tests.

Overview

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC, an American Foods Group Company has an opportunity for a Cattle Accounts Payable at our Long Prairie plant.

As Cattle Accounts Payable, You Will

• Compile all sale barn/owner information for USDA tests.
• Pay Freight.
• Manage Certificates of Insurance for trucking-keep updated and current.
• Create 1099’s for end of year and verify 1099 information is accurate.
• Be responsible for AFG Purchasing and special cattle purchasing.
• Verify back tags, head count so correct sale barns and producers are paid appropriately.
• Prepare lots to be keyed, verify cow/bull receiving and knocking, matching barn line up.
• Revise the receiving that have estimated received weights. Record condemns.
• Key lots, check yields, review prices, build buys, cut checks.
• Reconcile weights, grades, back tags from the scale and knock box.
• End of day reconciliation with scale, barn line up, making sure head count and weight balances, and that all Grade and Yield has buys.
• Be proficient in 10 key data entry.
• Finalize reports, forward emails to established coworkers.
• Teach and demonstrates company’s commitment to safety and quality of work.

• Experience in AS400, Aspen Hot Scale Utility, Share Drives.

• Ability and willingness to learn other skills and cross train on other office positions as needed.
