Job summary

The University of Kentucky is seeking a CATS Tutor to support student-athletes in understanding course materials and to promote independent learning during one-on-one sessions.

The Tutor duties include mentoring students to develop time management and study skills, maintaining confidentiality, submitting accurate tutor reports, and complying with CATS, UKAA, SEC, NCAA policies. Participation in orientation and transcripts required.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed at least 60 credit hours of college work.
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA and have an A or B in all courses selected to tutor.
  • Must attend a mandatory orientation and bring a copy of unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities

  • Tutor student-athletes in understanding course materials and promote independent learning.
  • Mentor students to develop time management and study skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and submit tutor reports on time.
  • Follow policies of CATS, UKAA, SEC, NCAA; report any concerns regarding academic dishonesty.

Job Summary

Tutor: Assist student-athletes in UK Athletics in their understanding of course materials while promoting independent learning during individual sessions.

Mentor: Provides one-on-one instruction that assists student-athletes to develop time management techniques and improve study skills through helping student-athletes organize their academic, athletic, and personal responsibilities, and improving any deficient study skills and habits.

Tutors and Mentors Maintain the confidentiality of a student-athlete’s academic situation. Report to all tutoring sessions on time and ready to work. Prepare and submit accurate tutor report forms in a timely manner. Follow policies of CATS , UKAA , SEC , NCAA and University of Kentucky. Report any concerns regarding academic dishonesty to the CATS Staff/Compliance Office. Additional duties assigned by the Academic Services Counselor. Work with all UKAA staff to ensure the success of the student-athlete. Must attend a mandatory orientation meeting prior to working. Must bring copy of unofficial transcript.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Those interested in tutoring should have received a B or better in the equivalent course they would like to tutor. Those interested in Mentoring should have knowledge of a typical college syllabus, skill to build calendars and ability to help students prioritize assignments.
