Job summary

MCB Quantico Chapel seeks a Part-time Roman Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education to oversee programs for children and youth from Pre-K to 12th grade. The role supports sacramental preparation and assists with retreats, meetings, and events.

Responsibilities include recruiting and training catechists, maintaining records, and coordinating with chaplain and volunteers. Candidates must be Catholic, with catechesis experience and AMS certifications or the ability to obtain them within a year.

Qualifications

• Baptized and confirmed Roman Catholic in good standing.
• Experience with Catholic religious education, catechesis, youth ministry, or sacramental preparation.
• Knowledge of Roman Catholic theology, sacraments, liturgy, and faith formation.
• Must complete or possess AMS Catechist Certification within one year of contract start.
• Must have completed or be able to complete the AMS Course in Catechetical Methodology.
• Must pass required background checks, including installation access requirements.
• Must be willing to complete mandatory reporter training.
• Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
• Flexible availability for Sundays, occasional evenings, retreats, and special events

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Roman Catholic religious education programs for children and youth, Pre-K through 12th grade.
• Support sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
• Help plan retreats, parent meetings, youth activities, service projects, and special chapel events.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists.
• Maintain registration, attendance records, calendars, curriculum materials, and program files.
• Coordinate with the Catholic Chaplain/DRE, chapel staff, parents, and volunteers.
