Job summary

Music Ministry International seeks a part-time Catholic Director of Music/Accompanist at Goodfellow AFB Chapel to provide musical leadership for weekend and Holy Day celebrations. You will serve as First Cantor, direct the choir, and coordinate rehearsals and liturgical planning in collaboration with the Chaplain and Catholic Ministry Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Be proficient in sight-reading music and capable of playing liturgical and Catholic folk songs; collaborate with guitar, drums, trumpet, and other instruments.
• Minimum six months of Catholic parish experience as choir director, cantor and accompanist.
• Proficiency in sight-reading, voice, organ, and piano; experience with Catholic liturgical music.
• Ability to interpret vocal and instrumental scores for traditional and contemporary Catholic music.
• Knowledge of the Roman Catholic Mass, liturgies, and the role of music in worship.
• Ability to synchronize music with choir or congregation.
• Provide letters of recommendation from two Roman Catholic pastors or priests.

Responsibilities

• Consult with the Catholic Chaplain or Auxiliary Priest to coordinate, plan, and lead music for weekend worship and Holy Day celebrations at Goodfellow AFB.
• Function as First Cantor, leading singing at all weekend liturgical celebrations.
• Direct, recruit, and train the choir with at least one weekly rehearsal.
• Incorporate psalms, new songs, and hymns into the program as requested.
• Coordinate with Catholic Chaplain for questions concerning the Sacred Liturgy.
• Comply with Federal, State, Local Laws, Air Force Instructions, and Chapel Operating Instructions.
• Submit background check application to Chapel NCOIC per DoDI 1402.5; ensure volunteers working with youth are checked.
• Manage payroll/obligations for themselves and any subcontractors.
• Coordinate performance by substitutes approved by Wing Chaplain; submit candidate names 14 days prior to absence.
• Provide liturgical planning and supervision for annual cycles.
• Stay within 118 annual units of work (services, rehearsals, special events).
• Work primarily at Goodfellow AFB Chapel or satellite facilities.
• Coordinate support needs with Contract Officer or designee.
• Note: This is a part-time position with compensation based on budget and qualifications.
