Description

Summary:

Operates all cath lab equipment and digital processing equipment. Performs duties such as scrub assistant, X-ray equipment operation, and digital processing. Contributes to the department by managing supplies and maintaining an orderly work area. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles to assist patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. A current state-issued Radiology Technology license is required prior to employment. Specialization can be obtained in modalities including Diagnostic Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Peripheral Angiography, Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, and Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator Implantation with appropriate training and active participation.

Responsibilities:

1. Meet the expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
2. Ensure quality and acquisition of Cardiac Cath digital images.
3. Position the cath lab table and set angles appropriately.
4. Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization by preparing equipment, catheters, medications, and maintaining sterility.
5. Monitor patients' vital signs and hemodynamic data during procedures.
6. Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy machines, to capture clear images of the heart and blood vessels.
7. Maintain a sterile environment and ensure the cath lab suite is prepared and sanitary.
8. Educate patients about catheterization procedures and address their questions.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education/Skills

• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology school or an accepted equivalent.
• Bachelor's of Science Degree.

Experience

• At least 1 year of Cath Lab experience.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Louisiana State Radiologic Technology (LSRT) license required in Louisiana.
• Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) or LSRT license in the state of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• ARRT certification preferred.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
