Intermountain Health is seeking a CV Invasive Specialist I to support cardiac catheterization procedures with professional expertise and some supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health science with clinical exposure or related healthcare program.
  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program.
  • Diploma or associate degree with healthcare experience in Cath Lab/EP.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare procedure room and perform post-procedure turnaround.
  • Assist with invasive, diagnostic, and interventional procedures and manage supplies.
  • Educate and support patients and families; ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Document procedures and interpretations; monitor hemodynamics and imaging data.
  • Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot cath lab equipment; understand x-ray safety.

Job Description

The CV Invasive Specialist I performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist I performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist I assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Follows Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) Scope of Practice or for Electrophysiology the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology.

Posting Specifics
Shift Details
  • 36 hours per week; 4x 9-hour shifts
  • Share on call obligations on nights, weekends, and holidays (requires 30-minute response time)
  • Regular Lab hours are 7:00am-4:30pm Monday- Friday
  • Call hours 4:30pm-7:00am with 24-hour coverage Saturday, Sunday and holidays

  • We care for patients undergoing Cardiac, Electrophysiology, and Structural Heart procedures
  • 4 state of the art cath labs plus one hybrid room
  • Collaborative respectful culture with a tight-knit and cohesive team
  • 3 person teams including an RN, a scrub tech, and an additional tech or nurse
  • Documentation via Epic and MacLab
  • Combination of RN conscious sedation and anesthesia

Essential Functions
  • Participate in procedure room preparation and post procedure turn around.
  • Develop specific knowledge with regard to invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies which includes assisting in inventory control. Develops specific knowledge of applications, proper use and deployment techniques including documenting hemodynamic recordings, calculations, and interpretations.
  • Provide patient education and emotional support for patients and their family members; ensure patient comfort. Foster teamwork and cohesiveness with team members and physicians.
  • Develop knowledge specific to cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and treatment options. Assess the condition of the patient, document, and inform physician of deviations from normal criteria throughout the procedure.
  • Understand and apply principles of x-ray generation and safety. Understand and demonstrate the correct operation of imaging equipment.
  • May mix and administer medications under the direction and supervision of the physician (RCIS or RCES is required to pass medications). Pursuant to state laws.
  • At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath in place, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis.
  • Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events.
  • Develop skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Perform point of care testing and QA.
  • Accountabilities: Scrub, circulate, and monitor in diagnostic, interventional, and CRM procedures according to scope of practice documents. Complete procedure data entry; acquire and process imaging studies, hemodynamic assessment and calculations, intra-procedure CathPCI registry requirements, and prepare procedural reports.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • PALS certification for children's hospitals or ACLS certification for adults. New employees must obtain within 3 months of start.
  • Bachelor's degree in health science with six months of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech)
