Job summary

Nash UNC Health Care in North Carolina seeks a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech to support advanced cardiac procedures in the Cath Lab. You will scrub, monitor, and assist clinicians, while ensuring instrument readiness and patient safety.

Requirements include a high school diploma, graduation from an accredited Radiology Technologist or CVT program, ACLS/BLS, RCIS within 2 years, and knowledge of radiation safety and EKG interpretation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records hemodynamic data and imaging data.
• Participates in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and CPR.
• Participates in On-call per established call schedule, if applicable.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Prepares patient and equipment for procedures and calibrates equipment.
• Prepares lab with adequate stock and supplies.
• Scrubs during procedures and assists with catheter maneuvers.

Summary:

The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech performs advanced diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, peripheral vascular procedures, and structural heart procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Cardiac Cath Lab Technicians are responsible for scrubbing, monitoring, and assisting providers as requested. Technicians respond with the team to patient distress situations and assist with equipment quality control and inventory management.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in transporting patients to nursing units.
2. Attends to patient needs during cardiac lab procedures.
3. Circulates during procedure, as applicable.
4. Obtains and records hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating - hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
5. Participates in life‑saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
6. Participates in On-call per established call schedule, if applicable.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
8. Prepares patient and equipment for cardiac lab procedures by preparing site of entry, - draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting up pressure transducers and tubing.
9. Prepares the Cardiac Lab procedures rooms by ensuring that adequate stock is available.
10. Scrubs during procedure, as applicable. Assists the physician in maneuveringcatheters.

Other information:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist Program or accredited CVT Program
• **Previous experience scrubbing in a Cardiac Cath, Interventional Radiology or Electrophysiology Lab or a graduate of a certificate or degree granting program or post-secondary educational program in a health science or related field may be substituted for the professional education requirement above
• American Heart Association ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• American Heart Association BLS Certification
• RCIS must be acquired within 2 years
• Knowledge of radiation safety
• Basic EKG interpretation

Preferred

• ARRT Certifications (R) (American Registry of Radiology Technologists)
• Registration as a Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT)
• Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Required if not graduate of Radiology Technologist program or CVT program.
• Knowledge in computer-based imaging and hemodynamic management
