Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health Lakeway is seeking a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to support catheterization and electrophysiology procedures in a busy lab. The role prepares rooms and equipment, assists physicians, monitors patients, and participates in quality initiatives while maintaining sterile fields and inventory.

On-call duties apply with a focus on minimizing weekend call. Experience in radiography or EP procedures is valued; ACLS/BLS within 30 days is required, and on-call

Qualifications

We're offering a $15,000 Sign On bonus & Relocation assistance to Cath Lab Tech Professionals*

Work Schedule:

• This is a full-time day shift position, Monday-Friday, 4 days/week 7am-5:30pm 4 -10 Hour Day Shifts. *

Little to No Weekend Call:

• -7-9 days of call every 4 weeks for Emergent Procedures after hours. Call response time to the facility is within 30 minutes of notification.

Very little call on the weekend since they have a weekend tech that takes call. They however take 1 weekend a month off.

Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin. Lakeway is ideally situated on the south shore of Lake Travis in the scenic Texas Hill Country. Lakeway is a resort community complete with golf courses, tennis courts, marinas, a 65-mile long lake, 100 acres of parkland and trails, and nearly 500 acres of greenbelts. Baylor Scott & White Health Lakeway is a 121 bed, Full-Service hospital. The Medical Center is a certified primary stroke center, a certified chest pain center. Lakeway has achieved Magnet recognition for its nursing professionalism, teamwork and superiority in patient care.

M*ust live within 30 minutes of hospital

3 procedure suites. 2 GE fluoroscopy units (soon to be upgraded to Phillips), Siemens biplane system. 12 private room pre/post holding rooms.

Procedures: Cardiology- left heart catheterization, PFO closure, STEMI/MI, mechanical device insertions, lithotripsy, thrombectomy, renal stenting, peripheral vascular, PCI. Interventional radiology - kyphoplasty, port-a-cath placements, biopsies, cryoablations, uterine artery embolization, prostate embolization, GI bleed embolization, thrombectomy, percutaneous drain placement, paracentesis, thoracentesis, fistulagrams. Electrophysiology - pacemaker, ablation, cryo-ablation, pulse field ablation. Population - varies (adult)

Spacious Procedure rooms and spread out and support the nurse who is circulating and also the Scrub tech, Physician. If they need to bring equipment they have the room.

3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio for pre/post. Techs rotate modalities and procedures.

Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under general supervision, helps Physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. Prepares room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient's condition, and provides routine and emergency care during procedures. Contributes to the orientation and training of other team members. Helps in daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control initiatives through auditing and reporting.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Helps Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillators, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.
• Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff. Provides emergency procedures like CPR and defibrillation as needed.
• Performs pre and post-procedure care and monitoring.
• Orients patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures.
• Answers related questions to make patient relaxed.
• Monitors patient's ECG, pressures, temperature and impendences while in Electrophysiology Lab; notifies physician of variances.
• Helps in running RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and records other procedural documentation.
• Manages and maintains images that may include stenosis testing, formatting and processing on both cardiac and peripheral cases.
• Helps in procedure rooms and collects registry and quality data on appropriate forms.
• Gathers catheterization data and prepares procedure reports.
• Prepares and maintains sterile fields for Lab procedures.
• Orders and maintains inventory of procedure room supplies.
• Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment has not expired.
• Coordinates and/or audits resources during yearly inventories.
• Performs routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment; notifies appropriate team members for fixes.
• Help in the orientation and training of new staff and students or extra duties as established by supervisor/manager.
• Oversees some level of quality control monitoring, such as NPSG auditing, turnaround times, performance improvement initiatives. (Daily, monthly and/or quarterly).
• Participates in mutual governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees. This includes LEAN initiatives, NOBLE, 5S projects, inter-departmental committees, professional organization participation, and QC assurance with managers.
• Oversees the committee as requested.
• Transports patients to and from procedural area.
• Demonstrates good customer service skills.

Key Success Factors

• Education and/or Experience requirements (must meet one of the following): Associate's degree in a related field, or Completion of US military training program and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree, or 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience.
• Must be available for On Call response requirements per facility/department policy.
• Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques.
• Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.

• ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R), Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS), Cert EP Specialist (CEPS), Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT), Reg Cardio Electrophysiology (RCES), Reg Cardiovascular Invasive Sp (RCIS): Must meet one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Tech (ARRT-R) and MRT through TX Medical Board, or Cardio Invasive Spec (RCIS), or Reg Cardiac Electro Spec (RCES), or Cert Electro Spec (CEPS), or Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS).
