The Role
The Cardiovascular Invasive Laboratory Specialist IV (CILS IV) performs complex technical skills during cardiac interventional, electrophysiology, or interventional radiology procedures, ensuring safe and efficient patient examinations. The role includes proficiency in angiography, preparation, assessment, documentation, and monitoring, adhering to departmental and hospital policies, standards, and professional practices. The CILS IV actively participates in customer service and maintains respectful relationships with patients and staff.
Team Contributions
- Adheres to CDC isolation guidelines, PPE use, and hand hygiene standards. Prepares patients aseptically, recognizes hazards, and enforces safety regulations. Meets departmental competencies annually.
- Verifies orders, communicates with physicians, administers treatments and medications as per policy, and functions effectively in clinical emergencies. Evaluates interventions' effectiveness and facilitates patient throughput.
- Maintains accurate medical records, ensuring their security and authenticity, and follows procedures for amendments.
- Performs all three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub) in cardiac or electrophysiology labs, based on professional scope. Takes call as scheduled and responds per hospital policy.
- Continuously upgrades skills, assists with training, and educates new personnel within their competency.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Cardiovascular Technology, EMS, Nursing, Radiologic Technology, or Respiratory Therapy
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Valid license in one of the following: RN, Radiologic Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, RCIS, RCES, Paramedic
Preferred:
- Experience in complex cardiac interventional, electrophysiology, pediatric invasive, or structural heart procedures
