Job summary

A healthcare staffing agency is seeking an experienced Cath Lab Tech for a 13-week assignment in Salinas, California. The ideal candidate must hold BLS and relevant Cardiac Catheterization credentials, with at least one year of experience in a cath lab setting. Responsibilities include assisting in procedures, patient monitoring, and maintaining equipment. This position shifts are 8 hours from 7:30 to 16:00.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience required.
  • Any one of the credentials: ARRT registration with CI, RCIS, or RCES credentials from CCI, or CEPS certification from IBHRE required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in performing diagnostic fluoroscopic angiographic procedures.
  • Monitors patient condition pre and post procedure.
  • Manages supply in the laboratory.
  • Operates equipment according to protocol.
  • Ensures safety standards in all procedures.

Job description

Job Title: Cath Lab Tech

Shift: 8 hours shifts- 7:30 -16:00

Length of assignment: 13 weeks

Certification: BLS AHA And any one (1) of the following credentials required: ARRT registration with CI credentials; or RCIS, or RCES credentials from CCI; or CEPS certification from IBHRE. For CVT program graduates: Any one (1) of the following credentials required: RCIS, or RCES credentials from CCI; or CEPS certification from IBHRE

Education: Graduate of CAHEP accredited CVT program or Completion of 2 (two) years Radiologic Technology training program approved by AMA

Facility: Salinas Valley Memorial - CA

Location: 450 E Romie Ln, Salinas, CA 93901

Job Duties: Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative to apply and prescribe ionizing radiation for radiological procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit.

  1. Assists in performing diagnostic fluoroscopic angiographic procedures, coronary and peripheral interventions and Electrophysiology procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
  2. Assists in caring for patients in preparation for cardiac procedures. Assists in monitoring patient condition pre and post procedure. Reports changes in the patient’s condition to physician or R.N. for follow-up.
  3. Assists in preventative maintenance of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory equipment. Reports all equipment malfunctions to Assistant Director and calls for services if indicated.
  4. Assists with supply management.
  5. Works as an integral part of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team, knowing the responsibilities of each team member and being able to perform these responsibilities as needed.
  6. Initiates effective CPR measures and is familiar with the location and use of all emergency equipment.
  7. Assists in implementing and maintaining the Q.I. program related to radiological equipment and on-going department initiatives.
  8. Adheres to established hospital safety standards by following safety procedures/techniques in utilizing equipment and supplies and in performing procedures and body mechanics as well as reporting any unsafe condition immediately to the patient care manager.
  9. Operates equipment according to the protocol of the procedure being performed. Assists physician with all Cath Lab procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique.
  10. Pulls contrast media as appropriate for procedure.
  11. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned

Experience: Minimum of 1 year Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience.

Skills For Radiologic Technology program graduates: CRT and Fluoroscopy required. And any one (1) of the following credentials required: ARRT registration with CI credentials; or RCIS, or RCES credentials from CCI; or CEPS certification from IBHRE. For CVT program graduates: Any one (1) of the following credentials required: RCIS, or RCES credentials from CCI; or CEPS certification from IBHRE. BLS - Required
