The role you’ll contribute:

The Cardiovascular Interventional Laboratory Specialist (CILS) I performs a wide range of technical skills during Cardiovascular, Non-ablation Electrophysiology, or peripheral procedures to ensure efficient, comfortable, and safe examinations. The CILS I is proficient in one of the three standard roles: scrub, circulate, or monitor, in accordance with department policies and hospital standards. Adheres to professional practice guidelines, participates in outstanding customer service, and maintains respectful relationships with all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE appropriately, and perform hand hygiene per standards.
  • Prepare patients using aseptic techniques as dictated by the procedure.
  • Identify hazards and ensure safety regulations are followed.
  • Meet annual department-specific competencies.
  • Verify orders, facilitate implementation, and communicate with physicians as needed.
  • Perform treatments and administer medications according to policies and training.
  • Respond appropriately in clinical emergencies, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and operate within the scope of practice.
  • Ensure timely patient throughput and produce accurate, complete medical records.
  • Perform in one of the three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub, x-ray) based on the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals Scope of Practice.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond as per hospital policy.
  • Proficiently perform diagnostic and interventional procedures, including coronary, electrophysiology, radiology, and peripheral procedures.
  • Assist with orientation, training, and education of new personnel.
  • May perform waived or non-waived Point of Care Testing, maintaining competency documentation as required.
  • Engage in quality and performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes, document activities, and support departmental budgeting and standards.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Education Requirements: Associates Degree preferred
  • Licensure, Certifications, or Registration Requirements: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and current valid license as one of the following: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or Radiologic Technologist [R.T.(R)].
