Job summary

St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team.

You will prepare patients for procedures, obtain necessary permits, perform pre-op teaching, initiate IVs and monitor during procedures, and provide thorough discharge instructions. Responsibilities include monitoring physiologic parameters, assessing for arrhythmias, communicating with Nursing Units, and acting quickly in emergencies under physician orders.

Qualifications

• Three to five years medical/surgical nursing experience including CCU preferred.
• Current RN license issued by the Texas State Board of Nurses.
• BLS & ACLS certification from American Heart Association.
• BSN, Diploma or ADN in Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for procedures in the Cath Lab; obtain permit; perform pre-op teaching; start IVs and monitor patient.
• Remove arterial/venous sheaths following Cath Lab protocol.
• Monitor physiologic parameters; assess arrhythmias and ischemia patterns; provide discharge instructions.
• Communicate with Nursing Units and other departments to ensure continuum of care; report abnormal findings to Cardiologist.
• Act independently under physician standing orders; respond quickly in emergencies.
