Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest in Houston, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath Lab. You will contribute to high-quality patient care, scrub and assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient care.

The role requires ACLS/BLS/NIH Stroke Scale within specified timeframes and a BSN or ADN; ICU/CVICU/ED experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of start date.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• RN licensure required (nursing license).
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in nursing required.

Responsibilities

• May perform scrubbing duties for diagnostic/interventional cardiology and radiology procedures.
• Assesses and reassesses the patient to gather data for age-specific needs and disease processes.
• Provides age-specific patient care according to assessment data and physician orders.
• Evaluates patient’s response to interventions and documents data in medical records.
• Documents drug procedures and equipment data for billing and inventory control.
• Participates in multidisciplinary discharge planning.
• Ensures a safe patient environment.
• Participates in teaching patients and families.
• Performs quality assurance and monitors core measures for Cath Lab.
• Completes continuing education and in-service training to maintain knowledge and skills.
• Acknowledge Category I exposure and use PPE as required.
