Job summary

UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs seeks an experienced RN for the Cardiac Cath Lab. This full-time role focuses on direct patient care in a high‑acuity environment, requiring rapid assessment, preparation for procedures, and adherence to safety and care standards.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year cath lab or ICU RN experience, current RN licensure, and BLS/ACLS certifications. The position offers full benefits and a schedule with days shifts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of RN experience or completion of UCHealth Fellowship program.
  • Current RN licensure as required by state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare environment and patient for procedures, review medical records for safety.
  • Respond to life-threatening situations using nursing protocols.
  • Provide nursing care in a technically complex cath lab setting.
  • Educate patient and family appropriate to age and condition.
  • Work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Summary

Provides direct patient care at a proficient level, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Monitors the patient to maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

Responsibilities
  • Performs functions before procedure, including preparing the environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing patient's medical record to ensure safety checklist are complete.
  • Responds to life threatening situations utilizing nursing standards and protocols for treatment. Handles critical and highly stressful situations, reacting decisively with efficiency and composure.
  • Provides nursing care in a technically complex environment.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Credentials:

Essential
  • Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Other information: Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years' experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and relevant licensure/certification as determined at position level. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider and any relevant life support certification as determined at position level. Minimum Experience: 6 months of RN experience or completion of the UCHealth Fellowship program. ADDITIONAL POSITION LEVEL CREDENTIAL INFORMATION: ACLS within 6 months of hire.
  • IF APPLICABLE: BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
