Job Details

Purpose The Catering Student Assistant will deliver high-quality food and beverage service for indoor gatherings and large outdoor events. This position will assist in the setup for banquets and large indoor and outdoor events including movement, placement, and return of equipment, decor, plates and glassware, lighting and other equipment, and maintain organization in all catering storage locations. They will ensure a high standard of excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service of the highest quality.
  • Treat guests with courtesy and consideration.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Adhere to uniform requirements and return uniforms to management after events.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of food and drinks provided by catering, including ingredients and food allergens.
  • Learn and follow University, UHD and Forty Acres Catering policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate efficiency when on the service floor.
  • Follow Health and Safety guidelines for sanitation, holding temperatures and serving food.
  • Practice safe lifting techniques at all times.
  • Perform other duties during events as directed.
  • Maintain front and back of the house, following a ‘clean as you go’ approach.
  • Load trucks for transport.
  • Set up and return tables, decor, utensils, dispensers, kitchen gear and other catering equipment used at functions.
  • Push carts up to 50 lbs. to and from events held around campus.
  • Represent the ‘face’ of Forty Acres Catering.
  • As a key communicator at hosted functions, you will interact with every level of University faculty and staff.
  • Thoughtfulness and tact are expected when interacting with these guests, many of whom are future clients.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, staff and vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to maintain strong attention to detail, keeping accurate records and ensure all catering details are properly executed.
  • Willingness to provide excellent customer service and address client inquiries promptly.
Compensation

$13.00 per hour

Working Conditions

Tasks involve climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 50 pounds. You will be trained in and expected to use safe lifting and transport techniques.

Standard Uniform

Light Grey or Dark Grey Forty Acres Polo. Button up or zip up sweaters may be worn as long as your polo remains visible. Hoodies may not be worn on the floor. Black long sleeve shirts may be worn under your polo. All black pants. Pants must be trousers or dress pants. Pants not allowed include leggings, yoga pants, jeans, cargos or sweats. “Dickies” or other pants this style are allowed. All black shoes. Shoes with logos visible are allowed as long as they are black. Sneakers are allowed as long as they are all black. No resume required.
