Job summary

St. Tammany Health System is seeking a catering/food service team member to prepare food and set up for internal and external catered events. You will adjust schedules to meet event coverage and communicate professionally with staff and customers, acting as a patient and customer advocate.

The role emphasizes HACCP, FIFO, and CARES standards, with cross-training to other kitchen positions and a strong emphasis on food safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Catering or food service experience preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to work 10:00am–6:30pm and adjust schedule for catering events.
• Willingness to comply with CARES standards, food safety, and regulatory standards.
• Must have excellent knowledge of or willingness to learn about menu items and recipes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and set up for catered events, inside and outside.
• Communicate politely and effectively with staff and customers.
• Act as customer advocate and assist during labor shortages to ensure food supplies.
• Identify and resolve HACCP compliance issues and lead others to compliance.
• Maintain equipment and cleanliness of the kitchen, and assist with breaking down boxes.
• Cross-train to work other food production positions.
