Job summary

Levy is seeking a Catering Sales Manager to coordinate and oversee internal and external catering events at Memphis Zoo. The role focuses on menu development, pricing, service planning, and client satisfaction.

You will lead event staff, supervise operations, and collaborate with culinary teams to deliver exceptional experiences. A mid-December 2026 start is targeted, with comprehensive Levy benefits and ongoing professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in hospitality or related field.
• Minimum two years of hospitality experience including one year in catering sales.
• Strong leadership, communications, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent computer skills; proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage budgets, menus, and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Hires, schedules, trains develops hourly event staff & supervisors, including corrective action and coaching as needed.
• Manages full life-cycle of catering functions: menu development, costing, marketing, labor and food cost control; plans, books, and directs events; reconciles billing and payments.
• Collaborates with Culinary team to write menu proposals.
• Creates operating statements, reports, and budgets; monitors receivables.
• Supervises food preparation, transportation, setup, operation and cleanup.
• Creates contracts and banquet event orders (BEOs).
• Prepares and monitors budgets; financial targets and forecasts.
• Serves as SME on Audio-Visual equipment setup and troubleshooting.
• Maintains local client database; builds vendor relationships.
• Ensures HACCP safety and sanitation compliance.

Catering Sales Manager - Memphis Zoo

Summary: The Catering Sales Manager at Memphis Zoo coordinates & oversees internal and external catering events.

This position is targeted for a mid-December 2026 start date.

Key Responsibilities:

Hires, schedules, trains develops hourly event staff & supervisors, including corrective action and coaching as needed.

Manages full life-cycle of catering related functions, from menu development, costing, and marketing functions; utilize labor & food cost control, books, plans, and directs functions, reconciles billing and verifies all appropriate payments.

Actively involved in the development of service techniques, menu presentation, policies and procedures.

Collaborate/consult with Culinary team to write menu proposals.

C​reates operating statements, reports, and operational budgets, reviews the collection of receivables.

Supervise food preparation, transportation, set-up, operation and clean-up.

C​reates proposals, contracts and banquet event orders (BEOs).

Prepares and monitors budgets; financial targets and forecasts.

Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) as needed on Audio-Visual equipment, including set-up, break-down, troubleshooting.

Maintains local client database, builds and maintains relationships with vendors.

Ensures all safety and sanitation procedures are followed in compliance with HACCP.

Demonstrates strong knowledge of current food, industry trends & fine dining points of service.

Demonstrate proactive mindset and ability to remain clam under pressure, anticipate changes, and manage high-pressure guest interactions.

Assess and deliver on client requirements, ensuring satisfaction, retention, return, and referral.

Other duties & projects as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, including proven track record for meeting sales goals.

Min two (2) years of experience in hospitality industry including one year experience in catering sales.

Superior quantitative, oral and written communications and problem-solving/strategizing skills.

Excellent leadership and organizational skills, flexible and adaptable to constant changes and must possess attention to detail.

Excellent overall computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.

Demonstrate high standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior.

Exceptional client relations and customer service abilities.
