Job Summary

We aim to fill every occasion with excellent food and service! Currently, we are hiring a Catering Director for a high-volume, premier catering department at SUNY Plattsburgh in Plattsburgh, NY. The Catering Director will develop and implement catering solutions to meet customer needs, collaborating closely with the Executive Chef on menu development. Events range from coffee services to VIP dining, hosted both on and off-campus. This role also serves as the main contact for catered events at the Valcour Inn & Boathouse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and oversee internal and external catering events to ensure smooth execution and high customer satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain the catering marketing plan, providing comprehensive event planning and detailed menu options tailored to client needs.
• Lead hiring, training, and scheduling of catering staff, fostering development in service techniques, menu presentation, and policies.
• Manage the operations of catering functions, including controlling labor and food costs, and overseeing event setup, operation, and cleanup.
• Work with management and marketing teams to increase catering revenue and expand market reach.
• Build strong client relationships to align catering programs with their goals, ensuring happiness and retention.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support dining services.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree preferred.
• At least five years of catering leadership experience, including two in management.
• Experience in booking, menu costing, pricing contracts, and sourcing staff and equipment.
• Ability to supervise food prep, service, and cleanup to meet high standards.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency with computers.
• ServSafe Certification.
