CATERING OPERATIONS DIRECTOR - SUNY Plattsburgh - Plattsburgh, NY

Join us as a Catering Operations Director at SUNY Plattsburgh, overseeing a high-volume catering department in collaboration with Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services.

Location: On-site at college campus and Valcour Inn & Boathouse
Salary: $90,000 - $95,000

Job Summary

Responsible for developing and executing catering solutions for diverse events, from coffee services to VIP dining, both on and off-campus. Acts as the primary contact for catered events at the Valcour Inn & Boathouse.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage internal and external catering events ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  2. Create and implement marketing strategies, offering comprehensive event planning and menu development.
  3. Lead hiring, training, and scheduling of catering staff, enhancing service techniques and policies.
  4. Oversee catering operations, controlling labor and food costs, and managing event logistics including setup and cleanup.
  5. Collaborate with management and marketing teams to increase revenue and market presence.
  6. Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  7. Perform additional duties to support dining services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • At least five years in catering leadership, including management experience.
  • Experience in menu costing, pricing, sourcing, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong supervision skills in food prep, service, and cleanup.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with computers.
  • ServSafe Certification.
