Overview

Manage catering accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals are achieved or exceeded. Responsible for soliciting new catering sales accounts, entertaining, and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals in food, beverage, and room rental segments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication.
  2. Understand monthly forecasting and annual budget processes, as well as pace and productivity.
  3. Utilize yield management skills and historical data to maximize revenue.
  4. Evaluate catering business opportunities to maximize revenue and profitability while meeting customer expectations.
  5. Research competitors' products, services, and pricing to develop strategic business plans.
  6. Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel to clients, including room rental, A/V, and other revenue opportunities.
  7. Sell to a variety of market segments and maintain long-term client relationships to encourage repeat business.
  8. Participate in industry organizations (NACE, MPI) and community activities to increase visibility and booking opportunities.
  9. Apply sales techniques including closing and negotiating skills.
  10. Conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations comfortably.
  11. Participate in trade shows and sales blitzes.
  12. Utilize creative skills for innovative set-ups, menus, and functions, working closely with the Chef on pricing specialty menus.
  13. Coordinate with the banquet department on operations and event execution, evaluating alternatives and planning accordingly.
  14. Oversee the operations of catering events, ensuring detailed execution of banquet event orders.
  15. Provide A/V equipment and operate it as a profit center.
  16. Use and teach computer applications such as Delphi, Word, and Excel.
  17. Stay informed on market trends, competition, and key hotel customers.
  18. Work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups.
  19. Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  1. Prior hospitality experience, specifically in catering sales, is essential.
  2. Minimum of 1 year in catering sales required.
  3. Experience at a similar size and quality hotel preferred.
  4. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi.
  6. Strong sales, revenue management, training, and motivational skills.
  7. Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and the competitive market.
  8. Understanding of hotel operations, marketing, security, safety, personnel, budgeting, and legal considerations.
  9. Effective communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 annually
